Ingredients

15 oz
 black beans, canned low-sodium
1
large egg
0.5 cup
flax meal
2 tbsp
onion powder
1 tbsp
smoked paprika
1 tbsp
cumin
1 tbsp
Worcestershire sauce

Directions

Food Safety Tips:

  1. Wash hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Clean all countertops and equipment used for food preparation.
  2. Use separate equipment for handling raw food and cooked food.
  3. Put leftovers away within 2 hours or sooner if they are in a warm location.  Reheat leftovers to an internal temperature of 74°C (165°F). Discard uneaten leftovers after they have been reheated

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  1. In a large mixing bowl, smash the beans with a fork or potato masher.
  1. In a small separate bowl, whisk the egg and Worcestershire sauce.
  1. Add egg mixture to the beans and smash until well mixed.
  1. Add in the flax meal and spices and smash together until the mixture is well blended.
  1. Form the dough into four equal-sized patties and place on a cookie sheet that is lightly greased or lined with parchment paper.
  1. Using a fork, pat down the patties so they resemble meat patties.
  1. Bake for 10-15 minutes on each side. Keep checking on the patties so they don’t overcook, as each oven is different.
  1. Internal temperature should reach 165 degrees F; continue cooking until final temp is reached.
